WATCH: Protesters block roads in Umzinto

Reports indicate that the protest is for inadequate sanitation services.

Protesters from an informal settlement in Umzinto took to the streets this morning (April 1).

It is believed that they are protesting for sanitation services, as toilets have not being cleaned for some time.

Tyres are being burnt and roads blocked around the CBD vicinity.

As at 09:30, the CBD was a no-go area and many businesses were closed.

Also, in 2023, protesters made the Umzinto CBD a no-go area for the same issue after residents demanded that their VIP toilets be cleaned or changed, as they had been unattended for a long time.

This is a developing story.
