Umkomaas Beach was polluted with plastic (many items were filled with wet beach sand), toys, tyres, nappies and loads of debris.

These items were all scattered along the beach, forming a blanket of rubbish.

Learners were happy to be part of the solution.

As per the Clean Surf Project, a non-profit which creates awareness of the devastating cause of littering (especially plastic and polystyrene products) and the impact it has on ocean life, which affects humans as well, the team collected 162 bags of rubbish and 114 bags of recycling items.

Numerous bags were filled with rubbish.
