Umdoni Municipality reaches agreement with employees

The municipality will share information regarding refuse removal during the course of this afternoon.

After over two weeks of no municipal services, the employees’ industrial action in Umdoni has been suspended.

This comes after an agreement was reached between employer and employees.

The municipality noted that this disruption caused an unwarranted inconvenience to residents and the business community; and these actions were condemned as they were an infringement on the communities’ constitutional rights and undermine service delivery.

Of most concern was the lack of refuse removal, which left residents dealing with heaps of rubbish outside homes and businesses.

The municipality stated that information will be shared during the course of this afternoon in terms of the approach that will be taken for refuse removal.
