The ANCYL Tolomane Mnyayiza Regional Executive Committee (REC) deliberated on several issues, such as the high unemployment rate, crime, and gender-based violence.
The ANCYL in the Tolomane Mnyayiza Region adopted several deployments during its first Regional Executive Committee (REC) meeting at the Port Shepstone ANC offices recently.

In a statement, the regional secretary, Sanele Gumede, said the REC deliberated on several issues, including the high unemployment rate, crime, and gender-based violence.
“We agreed that we would need to have a detailed programme of action driven by all sectors of society to tackle these challenges. We noted the need to rebuild and renew the organisation. This includes monitoring the work done by our branches as per our congress resolution. Every Monday, branch secretaries will submit their programme for the week ahead and report on the work done during the previous week,” said Gumede.
He added that they agreed to intensify their work on the ground, where young people are based.
Gumede said they need to be in touch with young people to carry out the twin tasks of the ANCYL, which are to champion all interests of young people and to rally them behind the banner of the ANC.
“To strengthen our work, we will soon have an induction, which will have selected speakers who will assist in equipping the REC with the necessary skills and knowledge to run the affairs of the organisation. We will combine this with a Lekgotla to shape our programme of action as guided by congress resolutions,” he said.
