Join the 2025 City Nature Challenge

The aim is to put Port Edward on the biodiversity map.

Join the City Nature Challenge 2025: KZN South Coast for a fun afternoon of nature observations this Saturday (26th).

Make observations of wild plants and animals, and take part in one of the largest community science events in the world while helping better understand – and therefore, take care of – nature that lives in and around urban areas.

Go along and represent Port Edward and the Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy as they document local biodiversity using the iNaturalist app.

From April 25 to 28, they will be running a Port Edward-only competition:

There will be a prize for the most unique observation (something no one else records) and a prize for the most observations made during the challenge.

Interested in joining the competition? Contact Jana on 076 548 5946 for more details.

All ages welcome, and no experience needed.
