Christians flock to Easter Sunrise Service
Some said it was the best Sunrise Service they had been to.
Glorious weather greeted worshipers who attended the annual Easter Sunrise Service at St Mike’s Beach.
In the past it has been cold and wet, sometimes very wet, but this year it was perfect, with the grassy area in front of C-Bali Restaurant packed.
Christians from numerous churches attended, recognising and acknowledging the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Various church leaders played a part upfront, including Trevor Downham, Ryan Smulders, Richard Pringle, Larry Elliott and Davin Guest, who shared the message.

Jono Downham, Mitchell Blewitt and Keenan van den Berg led the worship, with Phil Kloppers playing his usual unseen but highly valuable role as sound technician.
The message was followed by communion and then the opportunity for baptisms to take place in the tidal pool – always a highlight – with a cautious eye being kept on the incoming tide.
Aside from the actual service, the occasion is also a time for friends who may not always see each other often to catch up. Others grabbed a board and headed out for a surf.
Children played on the beach, splashing around in the ankle-high foamies and in general, had a wonderful time.
