South Coast plant fair coming up

There is a tea garden which the church will run so food and drinks will be available to visitors.

The South Coast Plant and Garden Fair is set to take place at St John’s Church, Shelly Beach on Saturday, May 31.

St John’s Lutheran Church, is situated on 627 Lobelia Road in Shelly Beach.

The South Coast is blessed with an amazing growing climate, and there are lots of keen growers and gardeners living here.

The fair aims to bring together garden and plant-related businesses and entrepreneurs with plant and garden clubs, conservancies and the gardening public.

It’s a new event, and being run by Ruth Mathias, with the intention to provide a platform for the green industry on the South Coast.

Charges to vendors are being kept to a minimum to cover venue hire and marketing costs.

St John’s Church is in a prime location in Shelly Beach between the Southcoast Mall and Shelly Centre, so easy to access for a variety of people.

“The church has a lovely open area surrounded by trees, so it is a super venue that we also want to highlight for other events,” said Ruth.

There is a tea garden which the church will run so food and drinks will be available to visitors. There is also an indoor area for talks and potting demos.

There will be a small charge to attendees, again to cover costs. In order to add value to visitors this charge includes a lucky draw ticket and there will also be talks and demonstrations during the day.
