Emergency services responded to a drowning near Margate last Sunday.
Members of Saps Search and Rescue, K9 Search and Rescue, as well as NSRI Shelly Beach, attended the scene.
Saps Ugu District Communication said it’s alleged that a boy (17), who was swimming at an unprotected beach, encountered difficulties and subsequently drowned.
Due to bad conditions, a vessel could not be launched to conduct a sea search.
Police conducted a search on shore with no success in finding the teen.
