Children’s centre needs second-hand goods

The shop, based at Siyakwazi’s Resource Centre plays an important role in raising funds to support children with disabilities.

Siyakwazi, a local non-profit organisation, is committed to supporting children with disabilities in the KwaNzimakwe and KwaXolo tribal authorities.

The organisation is asking the community to donate good quality second-hand items to help them restock its small community shop.

The shop, based at Siyakwazi’s Resource Centre plays an important role in raising funds to support children with disabilities.

Early learning coordinator, Mata Mzelemu, said all proceeds go towards the centre’s programmes, which aim to ensure children with disabilities have access to equal opportunities, whether through inclusive education, therapy or other forms of developmental support.

She added the centre is currently in need of second-hand clothing (for children and adults), toys (in working condition) and household items such as crockery, photo frames, linen, small décor pieces, and more.

“These items may no longer serve you, but they can be incredibly valuable to us and the money we raise from them helps give children support they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.”

The shop is currently running low on stock, and community support is urgently needed to keep it operating.

Whether you are clearing out your cupboards or refreshing your home, Siyakwazi encourages you to donate what you no longer need. Donations can be dropped off at Siyakwazi’s Resource Centre in KwaNzimakwe, or you can call 073 9430876 to arrange a collection.
