Community urged to support Oppi Kus

Get your early bird tickets and prepare for an unforgettable weekend of music, friends, and good vibes!

Organising a festival as big as Oppi Kus Musiekfees ’25 takes some eight months of serious planning.

This year’s event at Douglas Mitchell sports grounds takes place on July 11 and 12.

The stage will be set to showcase 14 top South African musicians. These will include: Jesse Clegg, Prime Circle, Tanner Wareham, Snotkop, Appel, Jo Black, Eloff, Fatman, Jay, Die Jakkie Louw Band, Shaun Wulf, Jeane Roux and Shakira Biggs, and deejays.

Margate Round Table has successfully hosted four consecutive festivals, and Tabler Shane Woolley explains the exciting ins and outs of hosting a two-day event.

Woolley said they have learned from their previous mistakes, taken criticism and have attempted to improve on the festival every year, like their motto: Adopt, Adapt and Improve.

He said they have sadly had to say goodbye to a number of sponsors this year.

“We also then canvas for potential new sponsors as unfortunately the festival is not viable without those businesses being willing to support the festival. Due to the reduction in sponsors this year we need every person possible to buy a ticket in support of this year’s festival.”

In the hope of increasing attendance, the Tablers decided to bring some English artists on the Friday night (July 11).

“Attendees have also been asking us to bring some new artists and remove some of the repeat artists. We have tried to listen to them, without completely changing the ethos of the festival, and hope that patrons enjoy this new line-up of stellar performers.’

Woolley said that without the fantastic businesses support, with whom they have built a relationship over the last four festivals, none of this would be possible.

“Of course, we cannot forget the community and holidaymakers who support us, as without them this event would not exist.”

Take advantage of the early bird ticket pricing until July 5.

No price increase just yet – so now’s the perfect time to grab your tickets from either: OK Liquors (Uvongo or Southbroom), Dougies Sports Bar, Gasmart (Southcoast Mall), Postnet (Shelly Center), Office National (Tweni Center) and Just Property (Uvongo). Or buy online via itickets.co.za
