Boet Stewart has done it again, for the seventh year in a row.
The bass fisherman with the nickname Kokorotkop was crowned champion of the South Coast Bass Angling Association at their recent annual general meeting held at Glenmore Ski-boat Club.
Boet won the heaviest bag and biggest fish for the year. His never-give-up attitude and his love for the sport proved to be an unbeatable combination, with him winning by a large margin.
Runners-up was Freek Stander, with Thys Hoffman in third place.
The most dedicated angler and most improved angler awards both went to Joggie de Minnaar.
Poephol’s prize went to club weighmaster, Freek Stander, who continuously had problems with the scales.
Biggest ‘other’ prize went to Cheryl de Minnaar for a large barbel caught at the Eston fish-off.
The club was delighted to welcome some new members, top anglers who should provide some strong competition in the coming year.
Secretary Joggie and treasurer Cheryl were thanked for all their hard, diligent work and the endless hours put in to keep the club running smoothly.
They are wished well as they move to Cape Town; they will be sorely missed.
The committee welcomes Bert van Wyk as the new secretary. Wendy Hoffman agreed to assist as treasurer.
Other portfolios remain the same: Thys Hoffman (chairperson), Freek Stander (vice-chairperson/weighmaster) and Boet Stewart (assistant weighmaster)
Thanks were extended to the sponsors (too many to mention) and to the club members who sponsored prizes.
A big thanks was extended to Rod Kinsey of Secret Sands, Glenmore who sponsored a two-night stay at the hotel. This prize was raffled and won by Tony Geerdink.
Tight lines for the coming season.
