Umdoni mayor leads clean up in Umzinto
The Ugu District water services team was brought onboard and worked on leaking pipes.
Umzinto received some overdue TLC at a mayoral clean up campaign last week.
Mayor Mbali Cele-Luthuli led councillors, senior management and various stakeholders and vigorously cleaned the CBD.
Besides the litter, the CBD was also messy due to last week’s damaging winds and wet weather. Litter was removed, stormwater drains unblocked, sand-build up removed and a stream filled with rubbish was cleared.
In an effort to make the clean up more impactful, the Ugu District water services team was brought onboard and worked on leaking pipes – curbing water loss.
The mayor appreciated the collaborative efforts by all participants in making the campaign a success, and urged the community to ensure that they assist the municipality in keeping Umzinto clean by placing litter in the bins provided throughout the town.
