Umkomaas author celebrates book launch

This new release continues the socially conscious and deeply personal work Somera is passionate about.

Ekta Somera of Umkomaas is celebrating the success of her latest book launch.

Her new poetry collection ‘Social Misfit’ was launched at Noah’s in Ansteys Square, Bluff recently.

The highlight of the book launch was that all her friends and family were present to share the moment and celebrate her achievement.

Social Misfit reclaims what it means to live authentically, to value kindness over status, and self-worth over external approval.

This new release continues the socially conscious and deeply personal work Somera is passionate about. She is the founder of Paper Trail Literary Journal, an editor at Sakura Book Publishing, and a community facilitator at Youth Capital which advocates for policy change around youth unemployment in the country.

“It was lovely to recite poetry surrounded by people who understood and embraced the meaning of Social Misfit,” said Somera.

“That feeling of being seen, supported and connected made the launch truly memorable.”
