GBV, tourism and youth in spotlight at G20 dialogue in Umzinto
Stakeholders hope to receive international intervention on several matters.
Government Communication and Information System in partnership with Ugu District Operation Sukumasakhe recently hosted a G20 Stakeholder Dialogue at the Umzinto Town Hall.
This dialogue incorporated a Youth Month commemoration, gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide, and tourism and investment.
All stakeholders engaged, shared knowledge and highlighted how these impact the Ugu community.
GBV and femicide coordinator Sithembile Linda said that she is hoping other countries will be able to intervene and help the country with these matters.
“G20 will bring about great opportunities, especially regarding GBV matters,” she said.
“We are hoping that other countries will be able to intervene and help us to decrease the killing of women in the community, as well as inequality. Also, to ensure women are empowered in a manner that does not compromise them, but puts them on a leading platform.”
