Adventures for Love transforms Ikayalethu with colour and care

From empty room to seaside wonderland – Adventures for Love brings colour, care and joy to Ikayalethu.

Adventures for Love brought new life to Ikayalethu, a home for disabled children near Munster, by creating a vibrant entertainment and stimulation room.

Adventures for Love is a group of fabulous women from all over South Africa who enjoy raising money for good causes, while having fun.

The group spent time at the home recently, where they gave the room a makeover by creating a beautiful under-the-sea mural, filling the room with colourful sea turtles, dolphins and corals to spark imagination and wonder.

Educational wall boards now turn the room into an interactive learning space, offering mental stimulation and sensory play. Handmade mobiles gently hang above some beds, adding comfort and beauty to the children’s personal spaces.

To make daily life easier and safer, 10 new wheelchairs were provided, while old tyre swings were replaced with hammock-style swings that offer gentle, soothing motion. Bright, hospital-grade flooring was installed to create a warm, hygienic, and calming environment.

Connectivity has also been improved with the installation of WiFi, supporting both the home’s administration and the training of carers. Repairs to doors and new shatter-proof glass ensure added safety and peace of mind.

What was once an empty room is now a sanctuary filled with laughter, learning, and love – a reminder that every act of kindness can build a space where joy lives.
