Business boost for Umdoni entrepreneurs

The initiative was internally funded during the 2024/2025 financial year.

Twenty small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) and cooperatives under Umdoni were happy to have received essential working equipment at a function held at the Umzinto Dining Hall last Thursday.

This was made possible through the municipal employment initiative – a programme aimed at enhancing local economic development and job creation.

The municipality explained that the provision of this equipment is intended to assist SMMEs and cooperatives in growing their businesses, enabling them to expand their operations and create sustainable employment opportunities for the local community.

The initiative was internally funded during the 2024/2025 financial year.

Umdoni has also secured an additional R1mil in grant funding from the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs to add to the programme in the 2025/2026 financial year.

Municipal leaders were proud to see these passionate small businesses strive to grow and work hard to sustain themselves and their families.

The beneficiaries were grateful for the support, and their progress will be monitored.
