Temple appoints new priest

Gurukul Shivaan Sharma is the new resident priest at the Umbango Sri Siva Soobramaniar temple.

The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramaniar Temple welcomes new resident priest Gurukul Shivaan Sharma.

Sharma officially started on July 8 and will conduct all Hindu prayers, weddings, and ceremonies. Devotees can contact him on 074 7644742.

The temple invites all to its annual Maha Mariamman prayer (porridge prayer) from this Friday (18th) to this Sunday (20th). The prayer will commence with a flag hoisting on Friday, with hawan at 18:00. Bhajans will then be rendered in praise of the divine mother Sathi.

The temple’s chariot will be visiting the districts of Port Shepstone this Saturday (19th), from 08:30.

Also, the temple hosts its annual Gangai Amman prayer this Saturday. Hawan starts at 13:30 at the temple, thereafter proceeding to My Den Beach at 15:00.

The annual Maha Mariamman prayer is on Sunday, with hawan starting at 08:00, thereafter bhajans will be rendered. Lunch will be served and all are welcome.

Garagum bookings are open. Devotees who wish to carry garagums should bring their own brass or clay pots.
