Mid-South Coast animal rescue needs donations desperately
The public can show their support by donating cash, blankets, pet food or adopting.
The mid-South Coast’s non-profit, 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue, desperately needs your help.
The animal welfare organisation is appealing for donations to help fund sterilisations of dogs belonging to families in need.
“Right now, we have seven female dogs needing sterilisation, four of which belong to township residents who simply don’t have the means,” explained Nicky Koekemoer, founder of 4 Paws and a Tale Rescue.
“We have another four male dogs and three females at the sanctuary which also need to be sterilised. Therefore, we are in need of public donations.”
Sterilisation costs R1 500 for a female and R1 100 for a male, excluding vaccinations.
Without intervention, there is the likelihood of unwanted litters born into difficult circumstances. Koekemoer explains this is not simply a plea for funds, but a call to prevent a cycle of suffering.
“We go through about 30kg of food every day, so alongside the sterilisation costs, any food donations or contributions towards food purchases will be welcome.” she added.
The charity shop – Tale End in Thira Village – takes donations of quality second-hand goods. This shop is a vital lifeline for funding food, medicine, and sterilisations for the most vulnerable animals in Scottburgh and surrounding areas.
The public is also encouraged to donate pet food, blankets and kennels.
You can also support the organisation by providing a dog with a forever home. Take note that adoption fees do apply and strict home checks will be done.
Nicky hopes that people respond to the appeal, and states that every donation helps break the cycle of suffering.
