It’s nearly time for Suidkus Smulfees

Keep the date open as it's an event not to be missed.

Let the fun begin as the Suidkus Smulfees prepares for a celebration of food, fun, entertainment and shopping bargains at Hoërskool Suid-Natal on August 1 and 2.

The annual fête of the NG Gemeente Port Shepstone has, over the years, become a highlight on the South Coast social calendar.

The menu, comprising pancake, braaivleis, offal, cake, desert, and many more mouthwatering dishes, is legendary.

The Smulfees is any bargain hunter’s dream, with fashionable clothes and a wide variety of second-hand items such as books, art works and household items up for grabs.

A festive atmosphere prevails, enhanced by the appetising smell of braaivleis and pancakes, happy laughter of children, and the distinct sounds of a Scottish bagpipe band.

Children can enjoy face painting on the day, as shown here by Gideon Janse van Vuuren.

Children’s entertainment brings happy smiles to the faces of the many younger attendees. Face painting is a fun experience as are the mini train rides and jumping castle.

The NG Gemeente Port Shepstone has been part of the local community for more than a 100 years and uses the Suidkus Smulfees to reach out to the broader Port Shepstone community.
