Join alien invasive plants removal party at Bendigo Nature Reserve in Southport

Come learn more about alien invasive plants this Saturday.

Bendigo Conservancy is calling on residents and nature enthusiasts to attend an alien invasive plant (AIP) removal event at Bendigo Nature Reserve in Southport this Saturday from 08:00 to 11:00.

The gathering point will be near B-Cubed Guesthouse and Leka’s restaurant, on the corner of Hazel Road and the R102.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring along gardening tools if they have them – secateurs, loppers, lashers, spades, large garden forks or picks – to help with the clearing. Sturdy clothing is recommended, including long sleeves, long pants and old closed shoes or gumboots.

Organisers say the outing will not only tackle harmful invasive plants but will also be a cheerful, hands-on learning experience, with guidance on safe removal methods and tips for restoring healthy soil.

After the morning’s efforts, refreshments will be available at Leka’s restaurant.
RSVP with Dee on 071 8662129.
