#Women’sMonth: Celebrating women in blue

Captain Kreeba Govender has more than three decades of policing expertise.

She has served diligently at Scottburgh, Newlands East, Port Shepstone Family Child and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS), Umbumbulu Saps, Umlazi FCS, Brighton Beach Saps and Umkomaas Saps.

Highly competent, Govender presently serves as a group commander at Umkomaas Detectives and acts on an adhoc basis as the detective head.

She is a skilled officer in child and sexual offences, with the necessary expertise to handle these types of specialised investigations.

Govender, who possesses numerous medals and is also a field training officer, has attended numerous courses in policing over the years which have contributed to Umkomaas winning the best police station of the year award.

Colleagues have described her as an exceptional woman, with resilience, determination and the ability to overcome challenges.

She stands firm in her beliefs, inspiring those around her and driving positive change and diversity.

Her passion is investigating crime, management of crime and doing the best she can for Saps as a senior member.
