Taxi association donates uniforms to needy learners in KwaNzimakwe and Gcilima
According to the association's chairperson, Nhlanhla Dlomo, they saw it fit to dress learners from these schools because they believe that they are the future.
Sixty disadvantaged learners from 12 schools in KwaNzimakwe and Gcilima received school uniforms from the Bambanani Taxi Association at a function at Margate Hotel recently.
The association’s chairperson, Nhlanhla Dlomo, said they saw it fit to dress learners from these schools because they believe that they are the future.
“One day when they are in higher grades or higher education, if they ever think of giving up, they must remember this day. They must know that there are people who will help them and keep them motivated.”
Dlomo pleaded with the learners to be patient with themselves and also realise that their school careers are just a couple of years, then they can start living their lives.
An inspector from the Department of Education, Bonga Mpisane, complimented the taxi association on a job well done.
Mpisane said that the association is making things easy for teachers because sometimes teachers also have to worry about learners.
“This initiative motivates learners to go to school everyday because they will not be looked down upon. Having new school uniforms make learners feel good about themselves and when they feel good they do good. Then teachers will not have to worry about learners with low self-esteem.”
Furthermore, he encouraged learners to never give up and always be respectful to their teachers.
