Tractor overturns, farmworker critically injured in Port Shepstone

An aeromedical helicopter was used to transport the patient to a specialist hospital in Pietermaritzburg.

A farmworker who sustained critical injuries after the tractor she was operating overturned, was airlifted to hospital earlier today.

KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the incident in the Batstone area in Port Shepstone.

“Paramedics rendered immediate medical attention to the woman in her late 20s. She sustained extensive injuries to her lower extremities after the tractor wheel ran over her,” said spokesperson Craig Botha

Given the critical nature of her injuries, the rescue was swift and focused on immediate stabilisation.

An advanced life support paramedic assisted in stabilising the patient and the team rapidly activated an aeromedical helicopter to transport the patient to a specialist hospital in Pietermaritzburg for further care.
