New art gallery graces Glenmore

The interesting lay-out of the gallery with its exceptional lighting, is a winning recipe for exhibitions of all kinds.

The shores of the KZN Lower South Coast have been graced with the opening of a quaint and well-equipped art gallery.

Sands Gallery is the brain child of Robin Broide, well known Munster artist and celebrity.

When her family acquired the old Glenmore Sands Hotel, she immediately saw the potential of converting part of the reception area and some store rooms into an art gallery.

During the upgrade and renovations of the complex – now known as Secret Sands Resort – Robin made sure the gallery claimed prime position as a welcoming site for visitors.

The interesting lay-out of the gallery with its exceptional lighting, is a winning recipe for exhibitions of all kinds.

Testimony of this, is the fact that quite a number of the artworks already found their forever homes on opening night.

Being situated in an accommodation resort, adds another dimension to the gallery, as it allows patrons to have drinks and meals at their facilities and relax in the lounges or sea-facing outdoor areas – something not many galleries can boast about.

All the artworks on exhibition now are done in the Japanese Wabi Sabi-style by artists from the South Coast, and the exhibition will run till mid-November, to make space for yet another exciting exhibition named Women and their Head-Dress.

The gallery is situated in the Secret Sands Resort, 1 Boulder Road, Glenmore, and the curator, Robin can be contacted on 079 3602118.
