Young artists shine in litter contest
Overall winning school was South Coast Academy, for producing the most winners in the competition.
A litter awareness competition prizegiving was held at Southcoast Mall recently.
The competition was a wonderful Uvongo Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association initiative which celebrated young talent and environmental consciousness, with learners impressing judges through art and creativity.

The event showcased not only creativity, but also a strong commitment by learners and teachers to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the environment.
Here are all the winners:
Poster category: 1st prize: Ngcobo Elihle, Grade 9, Galeni High. 2nd prize: Zaylin Saligram, Grade 3, Jai Hind Primary. 3rd prize: Snonhle Shobane, Grade 5, Jai Hind Primary.
Sculpture category: 1st prize: Peter Trash, created by 15 learners from Grade 4A, South Coast Academy. 2nd prize: Zimi Titi, Grade 3, South Coast Academy. 3rd prize: Regan Corns, Grade 3, South Coast Academy.
Runners-up: Busuku Malibongwe, Grade 7, Ohlangeni Primary. Thando Nhlangulela, Grade 3, South Coast Academy. Anneline Sholayan, Grade 4, Jai Hind Primary.

Special awards: Teacher award went to Sushilla Kistamurthy from Jai Hind Primary, recognised for assisting the most learners and submitting the highest number of entries.
