Eskom to brief Ward 19 residents on smart meter rollout

According to Eskom, the rollout will affect every household and will be carried out in stages.

Residents of Ward 19 are encouraged to attend a public meeting with Eskom at the Uvongo Town Hall today (Thursday) at 17:00.

The power utility is preparing to implement the replacement of old meters with new smart meters across the area. According to Eskom, the rollout will affect every household and will be carried out in stages.

Special attention will also be given to how complexes and gated estates will be managed.

Ward councillor George Henderson stressed the importance of attending the meeting, noting that it is an opportunity to gain first-hand information and clarity.

“Eskom would like to brief our community about the implementation programme in the coming months. This is the ideal opportunity to get more information and to ask questions,” said Henderson.

He added that Eskom will also be sharing additional updates of interest with residents.

“Please make every effort to attend this important meeting,” urged Henderson.
