Temple celebrates Navaratri festival

The festival spanned over nine nights in honour of Goddess Durga. ,

The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society observed the annual Navaratri festival in honour of the goddess Durga, an aspect of Adi Parashakti (supreme goddess), which concluded this week.

The festival spans over nine nights, first in the month of Chaitra, and again in the month of Ashvin.

At the event are (from left) Creleish Moodley, Vimmy Moodley, Lilly Gunpath and Sharm Gunpath.

The programme included invocation prayers, recitals of Durga Saptashati, discourses, hawan, bhajans by various groups throughout the nine days concluding with aarti.

During this spiritual journey, the aspirant has to pass three stages personified by Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati.
