Men and women of law celebrate heritage at Justice Centre in Port Shepstone
Participants wore different cultural attire to symbolises their origins.
For a moment, they forgot about the accused, applicant, witness, who should interpret, and the sentence for the accused, and instead they had fun to celebrate their heritage.
This is exactly what happened at Justice Centre in Port Shepstone recently, after the men and women of the law, from different backgrounds, united and celebrated their heritage. Despite being from different backgrounds, they insisted they are together as one.
It was a short, but important event to celebrate. The participants wore different cultural attire to symbolises their origins.
Event organiser, Nhlakanipho Mthwane, said this event is held annually and it is taken seriously.
“We gathered here, celebrating Heritage Day as the Department of Justice. We ensure that cultures of different walks of life are respected. As we gathered here, we encouraged unity among us,” he said.
Magistrate Charmain Barnard also emphasised unity. “Despite the fact that we are so different in our beliefs, we are so united and that is what South Africa stands for. We are united in our diversity. May God bless all of you and may you always be this beautiful,” she said.
