Talks on bees and mushrooms in Melville
All are welcome to attend this friendly and enlightening community gathering this Saturday (8th).
The Sowing Seeds of Love Garden Club at the Melville Sanctuary of Love will be buzzing with activity this Saturday (8th) when two passionate guest speakers share their knowledge on bees and mushrooms.
The free event, which runs from 11:00 to 13:00 at 69 Beach Road, Melville, promises an enjoyable and informative morning for nature lovers and anyone interested in sustainable living.
The first speaker, Marietjie Marais, is a well-known local beekeeper with years of hands-on experience and a deep love for her craft.
A member of the South African Beekeeping Industry Organisation and the Northerns Beekeeping Association, where she also serves as secretary, Marietjie is now retired and living her passion – caring for her hives and creating beautiful beeswax products.
She will share insights into the fascinating world of bees, pollination, and the production of honey and wax, as well as showcase some of her homemade products.
Next up is Mandaleen Sokolich, who will explore the world of mushrooms from cultivation to the creation of natural medicinal products. Mandaleen’s talk will cover both the health benefits of mushrooms and how they can be grown at home.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a plate of eats to share, along with a pen and paper for notes. Entry is free, though donations are welcome.
