Scottburgh ballet dancer Ella Caine shines on national stage

The Talent Africa contest is one of South Africa’s premier performing arts platforms, designed to identify, refine and showcase exceptional talent across the country.

Performers first compete at provincial level, then advance to the national stage, with top achievers ultimately qualifying to represent South Africa at international competitions.

All performances are judged by industry professionals according to international standards, making every award a true mark of excellence.

Ella Caine (16), a resident of the greater Scottburgh area, recently showcased her skills at the Talent Africa regional contest held in Izotsha in June. Ella took part in two categories – a ballet pointe solo and a Gatsby-themed jazz group performance.

Her dedication and talent was rewarded with gold for both her ballet solo and her group’s jazz performance.

These achievements saw her qualify to represent KwaZulu-Natal at the national Talent Africa competition. This took place in Vereeniging last month, where Ella once again performed her ballet solo, earning a silver award.

Her jazz group also competed virtually with a pre-recorded performance and, once again impressed the judges, securing gold.

For her outstanding performances and for representing KZN at national level, Ella was awarded her colours by the Federation of Performing Arts South Africa (FPASA).

These achievements have now qualified her to represent South Africa internationally at two upcoming competitions: Stars of the Universe (virtual event, January 2026) and Mediterranean Legends (Spain, June/July 2026).

Ella’s family is immensely proud of her dedication, discipline and passion for dance and look forward to watching her continue to shine on both national and international stages.
