Emergency services are at the accident scene of a head-on collision on the old main road in Esperanza, near Umzinto.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue, one person has been declared dead.

Sixteen other people have sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.

Motorists are requested to approach the area with caution as this is still an active scene.
