Fun and fizz at festive fundraiser in Umdoni
Across the festival grounds, there was something for everyone.
The Umdoni Summer Festival brought the mid-South Coast community together in the best possible way, with laughter, sunshine and plenty of local pride.
From the first market stalls being set up in the morning to the final moments of shared colourful smiles after the afternoon Colour Run it was a day filled with connection, joy and the unmistakable warmth that defines Umdoni.
The festival began as the Umdoni Christian Academy (UCA) entrepreneurial market. With the support of parents and teachers, learners proudly showcased handmade products, clever business ideas, fun games and youthful creativity.
Local traders and food stalls from the UCA teachers, which included popular culinary creations, added to the lively atmosphere.
Across the festival grounds, there was something for everyone.
The Umdoni Point Lifestyle Centre Pro Shop team brought plenty of energy with their padel and pickleball sessions, while those looking for something new tried archery and laser tag for the first time.
Over at Umdoni Point Gym, the crew kept spirits high with friendly challenges in spinning and weights, even encouraging brave festivalgoers to take the plunge with an ice bath challenge.
The day’s colour and energy came to life at the Colour Run, as runners young and old participated. The Boobie Run, Shavathon, and hair-dye stations were full of excitement, raising awareness and funds for cancer support initiatives, while highlighting how fun and community can make a real difference.
Halfway Toyota Scottburgh drew plenty of attention with its 4×4 off-track display, while Bloom Heath & Beauty Spa’s beauty corner offered mini makeovers and moments of self-care.
In the Kids Zone, the UCA high school learners kept the younger crowd busy with games, face painting and endless giggles.
There were smiles and stories at every corner.
The raffle rounded off the afternoon with great community support and some happy prize winners.
“The Umdoni Summer Festival reminded us how powerful it is when a community comes together with a shared purpose,” said UCA’s acting principal William van de Venter.
“Seeing our learners, parents and local partners work side by side was truly inspiring. It wasn’t just a festival – it was a reflection of the heart of Umdoni, and I couldn’t be prouder of what our community achieved.”
