Ugu district police commander moves to Inanda
The former head of Margate’s FCS is wished well in the next chapter in his career.
Captain Nivi Lutchminarain of FCS Margate who is from Durban, will take up the post of unit commander of FCS Inanda.
He was appointed in the Saps in 1993 and has been serving as unit commander in Ugu district since 2022.
During this time, he forged strong friendships with colleagues and made a notable difference to the victims of sexual violence.
Lutchminarain won the best unit commander level 8-10 in 2024-2025 and was runner-up in his category in 2025-2026.
Described as a listener, hard worker and a big thinker, Lutchminarain remained goal orientated and focused on fulfilling his mandate to serve and protect the vulnerable members of society, especially children.
He admitted that he will miss the lovely beaches and is grateful for the support of his members and their friendship.
Ugu Saps district wishes him well in the next chapter in his career.
