Join march against gender-based violence in Marburg this Saturday

Everyone will gather at the Big Fresh parking lot.

In keeping with the worldwide campaign to oppose violence against women and children, the Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation (PSHCF), will unite against gender-based violence (GBV) and will host a march in Marburg this Saturday (6th).

GBV has been declared a national disaster by the South African government due to its staggering prevalence. The country has one of the highest rates of violence against women in the world.

PSHCF’s primary mandate is to create a community that acknowledges the oneness of humanity, so that all co-exist in peace and harmony, irrespective of race, sex or religion.

“As an organisation that represents the interests of our community, we will heed the call of our government and lend our support to attempt to clear this scourge that has no place in our society in any form, “said Michelle Iyaloo.

The federation calls on everyone to join them at the Big Fresh parking lot in Marburg at 10:00 for a walk on Protea Road to the Marburg Community Policing Forum, where a memorandum will be handed to either the Saps or Ray Nkonyeni Municipality. For further information, contact Michelle Iyaloo on 083 3013750 or Selvan Chetty on 083 5561726.
