Safety checks conducted at mayoral roadblock in Scottburgh
The aim was to conduct road-safety checks, engage directly with road users and reinforce responsible driving behaviour.
Umdoni welcomed the festive season with a multi-disciplinary roadblock in Scottburgh last Friday.
The operation was conducted by Umdoni Municipality in partnership with the Road Traffic Inspectorate, Scottburgh Saps, Umdoni Traffic, and the Disaster Management Unit.
Mayor Mbali Cele-Luthuli officially opened the roadblock and used this opportunity to emphasise the importance of responsible driving during the holiday period.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility,” she said.
“As we welcome thousands of visitors to our beautiful municipality, we urge all drivers to exercise caution, obey the rules of the road and ensure that every journey is taken with safety as the first priority.”
The primary objective of this mayoral roadblock was to conduct comprehensive road-safety checks, engage directly with road users (particularly drivers) and reinforce responsible driving behaviour during this busy period.
The mayor also extended warm festive season greetings and officially welcomed holidaymakers to the area.
