Experience pipe dreams and classic music in Port Shepstone
Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
A classic music event is planned to take place at the Gereformeerde Kerk Suidkus on August 8, from 11:00.
It will feature various wind instruments such as the church organ, flute, clarinet and saxophone.
An organ recital will be performed by John Mulhatton, KZN representative of the Southern African Church and Concert Organists’ Society.
Local artists participating are Annemie Oosthuizen (flute), Tilla Cadle (organ), Jane Kriel (flute and clarinet) and Terence Bloem (saxophone).
Admission is free.
Donations will be accepted to support the activities of the Church Women’s Society, which includes maintenance of the church organ.
Women’s Day presents an opportunity to recognise the role of women in the promotion of music and music teaching.
The Walcker organ was built in 1953 by the South African Organ Builders in association with EF Walcker Orgelbau (Ludwigsburg) in Germany.
The organ is maintained and serviced by CJ Admiraal Organ Builders in Pretoria.
Youth and music learners are invited to meet the musicians and learn more about the musical instruments used.
