Meet big wave surfer Chris Bertish in Scottburgh this Sunday

He will be showcasing his new book Super Stoked, and there will be a film screening and Q&A for Ocean Driven.

Chris Bertish, the first South African to brave the monster waves of Mavericks, winning the Mavericks Big Wave Invitational surfing event in the biggest and heaviest waves ever recorded in the history of the sport, will be heading to Scottburgh this weekend.

He will be showcasing his new book Super Stoked, and there will be a film screening and Q&A for Ocean Driven – a day that changed big wave surfing.

This screening and meet and greet will be held at The Pipe Restaurant on 7 Cordiner Street, Scottburgh on Sunday at 17:00.

All are welcome to engage with Bertish and learn more about Super Stoked which tells the story of how a skinny little kid from Cape Town travelled halfway around the world, without sponsorship, to outwit, outsmart and outperform the world’s best-paid professional athletes on a day that changed his life, and the sport of big-wave surfing, forever.

Through his book, he shares inspiring lessons learnt through his incredible achievements, including stand-up paddleboarding, solo and unassisted, for 93 days across the Atlantic Ocean from Africa to the Caribbean.

“If you want to set big goals and achieve them, this little blue book of wisdom is for you. It will show you how to harness the power of fear and create the mindset needed to succeed at anything and achieve even the seemingly impossible,” he said.

His Scottburgh visit is part of his Super Stoked book launch road show. He will thereafter be heading to Durban and then back to Cape Town.
