Cubs and Meerkats help South Coast Hospice with Jars of Hope

The youngsters put time and effort into making up the jars.

The 1st Margate Cubs and Meerkats recently handed over 24 Jars of Hope to South Coast Hospice. Each jar was made up by the children.

Unfortunately, no Meerkats were able to be there for the handover.

The Jars of Hope project ran during the lock-down in 2020 to honour late patron Nelson Mandela for Mandela Day on July 18.

The challenge was to make Jars of Hope and help feed families in need.

Ingredients placed into the jars by the Cubs and Meerkats included rice, soup mix, lentils, stock cube and soup powder.

Giving these jars could, for example, help provide a hot meal for four people, offer solace and hope, and hopefully bring some joy all round.
