Public purse in good hands at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality
Mayor Zodwa Mzindle welcomed the outcome.
At the first council meeting of 2026, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, received an unqualified audit opinion for the 2024/2025 financial year.
As per the Auditor-General of South Africa, the unqualified audit opinion confirms that the municipality’s financial statements fairly present its financial position and that public funds were managed in compliance with applicable legislation, accounting standards and governance prescripts.
Mayor Zodwa Mzindle welcomed the outcome, describing it as a strong affirmation of sound financial management, accountability and transparency within the municipality.
“This unqualified audit opinion is a clear indication that the public purse of the community is in good hands. It reflects the collective effort of council, administration and oversight structures to ensure responsible financial governance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.”
Mzindle commended portfolio chairpersons, councillors, municipal officials, particularly the office of the municipal manager, CFO, audit committee, and staff who contributed to strengthening internal controls and improving financial reporting processes.
