He was delighted to have his family around him on the day.

Mandlenkosi Wilson Mpisi of Harding reached the lofty heights on nonagenarian status on December 2 last year.

His children surprised him with a birthday party he did not expect and he particularly enjoyed it.

“My father loves birthday celebrations and we make sure we get together every year, but this time we managed to surprise him on the day,” said his daughter Khanyi.

Khanyi described her father as an amazing man. “He is our prayer warrior, the glue of the family. He is such a loving person towards his children and grandchildren. He loves us unconditionally,” she said.

Khanyi said it was a not a big event, but it was something her father appreciated.

“My Dad is a very private person and enjoys spending time at home reading his bible. When his children are visiting at home he always makes sure we sing various hymns and songs that he loves dearly.”

The 90th birthday party was in appreciation for everything he has done for them over the years, the many sacrifices he made and still does.
