Taxi owner gunned down in Bhobhoyi

Police are investigating.

A well-known taxi owner from Bhobhoyi, Mavuka ‘Majimbos’ Khowa, was shot dead at his home on March 25 at about 19:00.

According to police, a case of murder has been opened for investigation after a 53-year-old man was fatally shot.

“It is alleged that the victim (Khowa) was sitting in his vehicle outside his residence when he was shot several times by an unknown person who then fled on foot,” said police in a statement.

It is suspected that a white vehicle was used as a getaway vehicle. Khowa was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but had succumbed to his injuries.

He was the founder of Umdlalo Wamanzi, an annual taxi event held at Ugu Sport and Leisure Centre.
