Councillor focuses on service delivery in Ward 27 report

According to Clr Mdumiseni Cele, while progress has been made, more work needs to be done to address socio-economic challenges faced by many families.

Scores of Ward 27 residents from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality attended Clr Mdumiseni Cele’s state of the ward address recently.

It took place at KwaXaba Community Hall, where Cele delivered a comprehensive, progressive, and inspiring report on service delivery, infrastructure development, and community upliftment.

Cele acknowledged that while progress has been made, there is still work to be done to address the socio-economic challenges faced by many families.

“Community participation and collaborative efforts between residents, government departments, and stakeholders are key to achieving sustainable development.”

Cele spoke on the Nositha Pedestrian Bridge Project that will play a crucial role in improving safe access, particularly for school children, workers, and elderly residents. This project is expected to enhance mobility and reduce risks associated with dangerous river crossings.

Cele also provided an update on the Goshi and Emathune electrification projects, which aim to improve access to reliable electricity for households. “Access to electricity remains a critical component of development, enabling educational opportunities, economic activities, and an improved quality of life for residents.”

Furthermore, the Mbhoshongweni water project is expected to address long-standing challenges related to water accessibility in the area.

“Access to clean and reliable water is a necessity and this project will contribute to improving public health, sanitation, and overall community well-being,” said Cele.

The ward is also committed to creating opportunities for young people and ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary tools to build successful futures.

“Investing in education and skills development remains one of the most effective ways to combat poverty, unemployment, and social inequality. We assisted a young resident with registration fees for tertiary education. The ward is committed to supporting deserving students who aspire to further their education, but face financial barriers,” said Cele.

He encouraged residents to continue engaging with ward structures and to work together in identifying solutions to local challenges.
