Cable theft and vandalism cause South Coast power outages
Eskom technicians are working on repairing damages at the Sezela substation.

Eskom customers from various parts of the South Coast are experiencing electricity supply interruptions because of cable theft and vandalism at the Sezela substation.
Some of the areas affected include Mtwalume, Pennington, Bazley Beach, Ifafa Beach, Ifafa, Qoloqolo, Malangeni and Elysium.
According to Eskom, technical teams are on site working to repair the damage. While efforts will be made to restore power as quickly as possible, the damage is extensive and will require a lengthy time to repair.
No restoration time has been provided.
It was also mentioned that Eskom Security is working together with local law enforcement authorities to investigate the incidents.
The public is encouraged to assist by reporting any suspicious activity to the Eskom Crime Line on 0800 112 722 or to the nearest police station.
