Creston Grade 9s learn about subject choices

The plays took place recently.

A subject information evening took place at Creston College last week which provided guidance to current Grade 9 parents and learners, to make the best possible choices of subjects for Grade 10.

The College Phase Interhouse plays took place recently. Falcon House presented a play called ‘Lockdown’ and Eagle House did a play called ‘Dress Rehearsal Disaster’. The plays were a great success and enjoyed by everyone. After adjudication, most promising actor was awarded to Phakade Mqadi, best actor was Keagan Gilmore, and the best play was won by Eagle House.

Presenters from TruLife Productions visited the high school to do a presentation. Topics covered were substance abuse, which brought light on the statistics, choices, results, and dangers of addiction. Human trafficking was also covered, which brought awareness on the realities of human trafficking. Learners’ awareness was raised about identifying, understanding and being active in this ever-present reality.

Together with the rest of the country Creston celebrated Heritage Day. We encouraged learners to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people.
