Cassie is star of the week at CS Skills Centre

Jumping can be very calming for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The CS Skills Centre, the high school, at CS Learning Centre has certainly hit the ground running this year as it is just growing in strength since it opened its doors in January.

It has seven students and teacher Ricky Dickason is doing a wonderful job of guiding all these young people as they venture into the unknown world of ‘being a teenager’.

In between all the lessons and learning, the students love to go outside to play. Much to the delight of everyone, a new trampoline was delivered last week for them to do just that!

Jumping can be very calming for children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) as it provides proprioceptive input which helps them manage their response to sensory stimuli.

On another note, congratulations to Cassie Van Vreden (16) as last week she was awarded the star of the week, for always being willing to help other students and around the classroom. It is a classroom full of friends who enjoy learning, playing and jumping together.
