Top three win for Scottburgh chess team

The Knights went up against several tough competitors.

Scottburgh High is proud of its chess team, the SHS Knights, which finished in third place in the Durban South Coast Chess League 2025.

The achievement, marked by a well-deserved bronze medal, highlights the team’s consistent excellence, securing a Top 3 position for the third consecutive year.

The Knights faced tough competition from formidable opponents, including Amanzimtoti, Kingsway, Kuswag, Merebank, Suid-Natal and Port Shepstone High, demonstrating their skill and resilience throughout the tournament.

Their ranking is a testament to the hard work and strategic prowess that have become synonymous with the team.

Leading the charge was coach Jacine Pillay, whose expert guidance steered the team to victory, alongside captain Amenallah Brahim and vice captain Sinazo Makhanya, whose leadership proved instrumental.

The Scottburgh High community celebrates this latest achievement, looking forward to the Knights’ continued success in future competitions.
