NEW owners of Third Avenue, Jeffrey and Maud Lombardo, have brought to the restaurant that ‘at home’ feeling that makes you want to be part of it.
In the few weeks they have been there, they have transformed the venue into a place where patrons introduce themselves to each other and strike up impromptu conversations about the weather, the rugby, the cricket and the menu. And the menu is well worth discussing.
It’s not so long as to be confusing, but it contains something for everyone, from the great value breakfast to baskets of substantial nibbles to go with the rugby. Chicken comes in baby, quarter or schnitzel varieties, flame-grilled and served with chips or rice.
Steaks and ribs can be mixed up with fishy options to make combos or you can opt for a choice of burgers or toasted sandwiches. Starters include such favourites as garlic snails and chicken livers and there’s a choice of desserts. A children’s menu is also available.
The wine list is limited, but caters to a variety of tastes. Jeffrey and Maud will no doubt welcome suggestions from regular patrons and there will be no shortage of those – regulars, that is. This place could become addictive!
“I love the Tweni people and their community spirit,” says Maud. “We just want to be part of it.”
And, judging by comments gleaned from the locals, Tweni just voted you in.
