Track Torque: Pole position all but guaranteed

Expect defending champ Sebastian Vettel to be in better form.

LEWIS Hamilton for pole position, Nico Rosberg second. Yes, that’s my prediction for the Malaysian grand prix this Sunday.

Mercedes is so good it is almost guaranteed to be one of the two of them on pole, if not one-two.

However, expect Sebastian Vettel to come back strongly after a very disappointing start in Australia.

The same goes for Daniel Ricciardo, who was unluckily disqualified after such a sparkling performance in Melbourne.

As for Ferrari, they have much work to do but might arrive in Malaysia with a new aero package.

With regards to Williams Mercedes, expect Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas to again give a strong performance.

As for Lotus we should see a much better race this weekend from both Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado.

McLaren have improved this year and, with Jenson Button and new man Kevin Magnussen, anything is possible.

At Force India, Nico Hulkenberg is the man to watch with speedster Sergio Perez adding the glamour. Their car is also quick and capable and could surprise us.

Sauber should be a good medium runner with Esteban Gutiérrez and Adrian Sutil powered by a good Ferrari motor.

The wildcards in the pack are the Toro Renaults, driven by Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniil Kvyat, a crazy young Russian who is causing a big stir in racing at the moment.

Of the back runners Caterham Renault should again be quicker than Marussia Ferrari with Kamui Kobayashi exciting to watch.

Qualifying is at 10am this Saturday, March 29, and the race starts at the same time the following day.
