WHEN I was in the free world, I was a pretender. I did not know and love Christ, so I would go around pretending to be something I was not. A big shot. A know-it-all. Someone who could fit in with the group.
Now that I know and love Christ, I am no longer a pretender. I want people to know Christ through me, and not just me through myself. And I now have two sets of friends: those who are saved and those who know about Christ but remain unsaved. With my unsaved friends, I do not pretend. Sometimes it is difficult to fit in with them, but how could they ever come to love Christ if I remain a pretender?
Where you work, are you a pretender around those who do not love Christ? How on earth will your unsaved coworkers make it to heaven if you keep pretending with them? You may have trouble fitting in, but don’t you want them to be saved?
Is your job simply a place to pretend? For the sake of those around you and for Christ’s sake, please stop pretending. Today your earthly body has more work to do than what is on your earthly desk.
Your job is not a place to pretend.
Reading
Galatians 2:20 (NLT) My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray. I know I have been a person of many faces. I don’t want to pretend anymore. I want to be known as Your chosen vessel – no matter who approves or disapproves. Amen.
