Daily Devotion: ‘Enter the workplace with thanksgiving’

Be grateful for what you have.

DON’T know about you, but there are times when I get complacent about God’s many mercies. On too many occasions, I take for granted the bountiful blessings He brings into my life.

And one of those blessings happens to be my job.

I know, I know: my job, like yours, can be a real pain. Some days, I just count the years to retirement or the months to vacation or the days remaining until the end of the workweek. Sometimes I’m counting minutes and seconds before I’m out the door.

But many people are searching for a job just like mine. They would trade with me in a heartbeat. After all, God is blessing me with the opportunity to work. Many don’t have that blessing. Each day, He gives me a chance to serve Him as I serve others. Some can’t seem to find that chance.

And so, do I praise Him enough? Do I exhibit thankfulness to others for His mercy of employment?

Not nearly enough.

So today, I will serve the Lord with gladness. I will enter the workplace with thanksgiving, and into my cubicle with praise. I’ll be thankful unto Him for my job and bless His name.

How about you? Today, will you enter the workplace with thanksgiving?

Reading:

Psalm 100:4 (KJV) Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your bountiful blessings upon my life. Thank You for the privilege to work and the job You provide. Thank You for the opportunity to serve You and others. Use me to bless many with the spirit of praise for Your great mercies. And thank You for Jesus. In His name, I pray. Amen.
